Lifting devices for big bag positioning and emptying
What are lifting devices?
Lifting devices are specialized hoisting systems used to safely lift filled big bags (FIBCs) and position them in a controlled manner above the connection or unloading station. These lifters are an integral part of modular big bag unloading systems and constitute the first step in a safe, ergonomic, and process-reliable bulk handling process.
Key functions and technical role
1. Safe positioning above the connection point
Lifting devices ensure that big bags are precisely positioned relative to the big bag connection system (such as the LAS-EC or AAS system), allowing operators to establish a stable and safe connection without product loss or the risk of contact with hazardous substances.
2. Supporting the unloading process
By tensioning the big bag during unloading and lowering it in a controlled manner, materials such as powders and granules can flow more smoothly out of the container. This improves throughput and prevents obstructions or irregular material discharge—which is crucial in processes involving fine or free-flowing substances.
3. Enhanced safety and ergonomics
Lifting devices are designed with safety and ergonomic principles in mind. By providing mechanical or electrical assistance during lifting, they reduce the physical strain on operators and significantly minimize the risks associated with manually lifting suspended loads.
Integration into big bag unloading stations
In a complete big bag unloading station from HECHT Technology, lifting devices, together with frames, big bag connection systems, and support tables, form a fully integrated solution for bulk handling in chemical, pharmaceutical, and food applications.
- Frames and gantries: provide structural support and stability for the lifting system.
- Big bag connection systems (AAS, LAS-EC): ensure a dust-free, secure connection during emptying.
- Support tables and unloading aids: facilitate material flow and reduce blockages.
Technical advantages
- Process reliability: consistent and predictable material flow, with minimal stagnation.
- Operator protection: reduced exposure to dust, hazardous substances, and physical strain.
- Compatibility: can be combined with a wide range of HECHT big bag connection systems, including options up to OEB-level high containment.
